It's been a busy time in the new year for weddings at Hawksmoor.. and we've loved every second!
Celebrations kicked off on 18 January with the nuptials of Rose and Ryan D'assonville. This petite blonde had previously worked on the yachts and Ryan is a pilot for SAA - talk about a pair of jet-setters! Crisis almost ensued at the 126-guest ceremony when the wind picked up like crazy on the wedding day - luckily a tent could be erected at the last minute to shield the anticipatory guests. The festivities that followed the wedding would rival even Mick Jagger's partying abilities!
Second was the Schindler wedding on 29 January. They held a small and intimate ceremony for themselves and three friends, in our garden under the trees. This was followed by a three-course meal made by the multitalented lodge manager Kirsten.
Next up were Kim and Niels Werner on Valentine's Day. These two are an air hostess and pilot, respectively, for Lufthansa. (The saying "love is in the air" has never been more appropriate). The open air ceremony took place by the pond in true Winelands heat! The theme was gorgeous and rustic, including proteas, wooden accents and vintage glass. The reception was definitely one to remember (or not so much?) and continued until 6am. Congratulations also to Kim's twin sister Jessica, who is getting married in July this year!
Finally, the wedding of Sandrine and Leigh Michelmore took place on 24 February. This 44-guest ceremony had a gorgeous vintage theme - including silver cutlery, birdcages and caramel accents. Guests were delighted by the Lindt ganache cake, which apparently "melted in your mouth". A farewell braai was held for the wedding party before they checked out.
Stay tuned for nuptial-related news - we have more coming soon!
